Holyhead Mountain [Mynydd Twr]

220mM Marilyn

Holyhead Mountain is a Marilyn, 220m high, in the Ynys Mon/Anglesey National Landscape, and also counts as a HuMP. The Marilyns are hills anywhere in Britain and Ireland with at least 150 metres of prominence, whatever their height.

Holyhead is the nearest station, 1.9 mi (about 2.5 mi on foot), so the summit is within walking distance of the train. From Holyhead it's about 1 to 1.5 hours to the summit, 1 in 15 on average. Valley is next, 5.2 mi (about 6.5 to 7.5 mi on foot), and 3 stations are within 10 miles in all.

Holyhead Mountain is the highest point on Holy Island, Anglesey, and in the county of Anglesey, north Wales. It lies about two miles west of the town of Holyhead, and slopes steeply down to the Irish Sea on two sides. Ireland can be seen from here on a clear day and the cliffs below are an important site for seabirds.
