Black Combe

600mD DeweyM Marilyn

Black Combe is a Dewey, 600m high, in the Lake District National Park, and also counts as a Marilyn and HuMP. The Deweys are hills in England and Wales from 500 metres up to 2,000 feet, extending the Hewitts downwards.

Silecroft is the nearest station, 2.2 mi (about 3 to 3.5 mi on foot), so the summit is within walking distance of the train. From Silecroft it's about 2 hours to the summit, 1 in 6 on average. Green Road is next, 3.5 mi (about 5 to 5.5 mi on foot), and 10 stations are within 10 miles in all.

Black Combe is a fell in the south-west corner of the Lake District National Park, England, just 4 miles (6.4 km) from the Irish Sea. It lies near the west coast of Cumbria in the district of Cumberland and more specifically, in the ancient district of Millom. It is 1,970 ft (600 m) high and stands in isolation, some 10 mi (16 km) away from any higher ground; this factor offers an excellent all-round panoramic view of land and sea, weather permitting.
