Kit Hill

334mM Marilyn

Kit Hill is a Marilyn, 334m high, in the Tamar Valley National Landscape, and also counts as a HuMP. The Marilyns are hills anywhere in Britain and Ireland with at least 150 metres of prominence, whatever their height.

Gunnislake is the nearest station, 3.3 mi (about 4.5 to 5 mi on foot): a full day on foot there and back. From Gunnislake it's about 2 hours to the summit. Calstock is next, 4.0 mi (about 5 to 6 mi on foot), and 11 stations are within 10 miles in all.

Kit Hill, at 334 metres high, dominates the area between Callington and the River Tamar in southeast Cornwall, England, UK. The word 'Kit' comes from Old English for kite, a reference to birds of prey. Buzzards and sparrowhawks can still be seen on the hill. It is one of five Marilyn hills in Cornwall, the four others are Watch Croft, Brown Willy, Carnmenellis and Hensbarrow Beacon.
