Carnmenellis

252mM Marilyn

Carnmenellis is a Marilyn, 252m high, and also counts as a HuMP. The Marilyns are hills anywhere in Britain and Ireland with at least 150 metres of prominence, whatever their height.

Redruth is the nearest station, 3.5 mi (about 4.5 to 5 mi on foot): a full day on foot there and back. From Redruth it's about 2 hours to the summit. Camborne is next, 3.6 mi (about 4.5 to 5 mi on foot), and 12 stations are within 10 miles in all.

Carnmenellis Hill gives its name to the area of west Cornwall in England, between Redruth, Helston and Penryn. The hill itself is situated approximately three miles (5 km) south of Redruth. It is one of five Marilyns in Cornwall; the others being Brown Willy, Kit Hill, Hensbarrow Beacon and Watch Croft. The natural region of Carnmenellis has been designated as national character area 155 by Natural England.
