Plover Hill

680mH HewittN Nuttall

Plover Hill is a Hewitt, 680m high, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and also counts as a Nuttall. The Hewitts are hills in England, Wales and Ireland over 2,000 feet, with at least 30 metres of prominence.

Horton-in-Ribblesdale is the nearest station, 3.2 mi (about 4.5 to 5 mi on foot): a full day on foot there and back. From Horton-in-Ribblesdale it's about 2.5 hours to the summit, 1 in 11 on average. Ribblehead is next, 5.7 mi (about 8 to 9 mi on foot), and 6 stations are within 10 miles in all. There are 2 other listed hills within 2 miles, including Blaydike Moss and Pen-y-ghent. The Pennine Way National Trail passes 1.0 mi away.

Plover Hill is an area of moorland lying to the north of Pen-y-ghent in the Yorkshire Dales and connected to it by an unbroken area of high ground. Whilst the whole area is now "open access land", the main right-of-way footpaths come directly from the north off Foxup Road and directly from the south from the summit of Pen-y-ghent.
