Eccles Pike

370mE Ethel

Eccles Pike is an Ethel, 370m high, and also counts as a HuMP. The Ethels are the Peak District's hilltops, mostly over 400 metres, named for Ethel Haythornthwaite and announced by CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire in 2021.

Chinley is the nearest station, 0.9 mi (about 1 to 1.5 mi on foot), close enough to walk to from the train. From Chinley it's about 30 minutes to the summit, 1 in 8 on average. Whaley Bridge is next, 1.5 mi (about 2 mi on foot), and 32 stations are within 10 miles in all. Chinley Churn is the only other listed hill within 2 miles.

Eccles Pike is an isolated hill three miles west of Chapel en le Frith in the Derbyshire Peak District, England. It consists of gritstone, pink in colour at the summit. While not as prominent as the surrounding hills of Cracken Edge and Combs Moss, it is popular with walkers. At 370 metres (1,210 ft) above sea level, it offers good views of Manchester to the west and the Kinder Scout plateau to the east. Combs Reservoir lies just south of the hill.
